You guys, we have a two month old and we made it out of the house! We actually set out with my parents and took ourselves our first vacation.
As you may have noticed we’re all for staycations, vacations, jetsetting, you name it (in fact, despite Jonah joining our clan we already have planned a trip to Seattle, Portland, Tokyo and maybe even Greece! Yipes!) But more on that later.
I have to admit in the first month there with baby it was hard to even imagine leaving the house. You get yourself dressed and put on your make up, take a minute (ok really 40) to feed baby. He falls asleep, if you’re lucky, and of course you don’t want to wake him, so you pack the diaper bag and start trying to clean up a little here and there while he’s sleeping. Then before you know it, he’s up and no, not ready to leave, ready to eat again! And on, and on, and on, throughout the day. Insert diaper change here and there…and there and well, you get my drift.
What’s funny was that all of Daniel and my stuff fit in one bag and Jonah had the Nuna Travel Crib and his own duffle bag full of a massive amount of diapers, wipes, blankets, clothes, burp cloths, and everything he could possibly need for two nights. Can’t forget Sophie and his favorite Kitty Cat book!
In the end, we had the most fabulous weekend getaway with Jonah, who thoroughly enjoyed himself. He spent a little time at the pool, lounged in his new robe (which was actually made for a teddy bear!), tried out the new Tommy Bahama restaurant in Waikiki and slept just a little longer and a little more comfortably at the hotel than at home, or so I like to think.
